The company, founded by Asian Paints veterans Sangeet Kumar, Prateek Jain, Satish Shukla, Bir Singh, and Amit Kumar in 2016, has developed conventional systems that run on rails through narrow warehouse aisles to drop loads at destination points, or retrieve them, using telescopic arms.
And then they have mobile robots, based on natural navigation. "They are just like self-driving cars," says Shukla. These include Dynamo, which can carry loads of up to 1.5-tonnes from one point to another. The robot visualises the operating area through lidar. Sensors ensure it avoids obstacles, and a fleet management system ensures seamless movement and calculates the optimal path for a specific mission.
There's also the ultra-fast moving sorting robot called Zippy, which reads the barcode of a load and relays the information to the fleet management system, which then directs Zippy to follow the optimal path to the destination chute. It has an optical sensor at the bottom too, which reads the QR code at&nbsp;the destination point to confirm it is delivering to the right chute.&nbsp;Zippy can exactly identify every single item in, say, a large consumer goods warehouse, and can do upto 20,000 sorts per hour.
All the hardware and software are designed and developed in-house. "We have a truly multi-disciplinary team-electrical, embedded systems, mechanical, controls, R&amp;D, design, IT, software, assembly, manufacturing. We source certain components from across the globe from some of&nbsp;the best makers, we manufacture other components in-house, and assemble the robots in our manufacturing facility in Noida," says Shukla.
Digital twin technologies and simulation software are used to test products before putting them out in the physical world. The robots are modular and configurable so that they can be integrated with other automation systems.
Shukla says they have 11 design rights for their robots, and have filed 22 patents so far. Addverb is also building a new manufacturing facility in Greater Noida, which they say will be one of the largest bot manufacturing facilities in the world.
