BJP takeaways: Breaching south Telangana, decimating Congress

Hyderabad: There were two major takeaways for the BJP despite K Raj Gopal Reddy suffering a defeat in Munugode.

One, the saffron party has finally managed to breach TRS’s stranglehold in southern Telangana where it had failed to secure deposit in any election before.

Secondly, the party has managed to push Congress to a distant third and establish itself as the main rival to TRS in the next elections. While the party will continue to pursue its aggression towards capturing the south, senior leaders said Sunday’s verdict has come as a feel-good factor since the party has managed to spread its wings in southern parts.

Putting it in a nutshell, Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender said apart from making sizeable gains, the party coming a close second to TRS was a moral victory.
