<p id="2">His decision to enter politics was significant as he pitted himself against N T Rama Rao, whom he shared a great friendship with. NTR had launched his political party in 1983 and rode to power in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. Krishna even made films like <em>Naa Pilupe Prabhanjanam </em>and <em>Mandaladeesudu </em>that were satirical takes on NTR.</p>
<p>Despite the fact that he idolised NTR, Krishna did not hesitate to stand up firmly against him to express his political views. Elected as Member of Parliament from Eluru in 1989, Krishna had joined the party on the insistence of Rajiv Gandhi. However, Rajiv Gandhi&rsquo;s assassination in 1991 marked the end of Krishna&rsquo;s political career. While he contested from the same seat again, he lost and later withdrew from politics. In fact, he also faced some rough weather as a stone was hurled at him by someone.</p>
