College: Broken chemical can at dump site triggered fumes

Kasturba Gandhi College for Women has issued a statement on Saturday saying that two of the GHMC workers were the first victims to have suffered from nausea and vomiting while handling garbage at the dumping site near to the college.
In an official press release, secretary and correspondent of the college BP Chakravarthy explained that the students who were present in classrooms 204 and 205 first detected the pungent smell coming from the window, when they were getting ready for classes post-lunch break.
Citing the preliminary checks by the police, fire and medical departments, the college stated that no cause for the smell or lapse in safety measures were found in the college.
