Collegium holds Guj HC judge transfer, shifts 5 from T & AP

New Delhi:After strong protests from the Gujarat High Court bar association over the proposed transfer of Justice Nikhil S Kariel, the Supreme Court collegium led by CJI D Y Chandrachud on Thursday held back its week-old informal decision as the judge does not figure among the seven names recommended for transfers.

There were protests in Telangana HC bar association too over Justice A Abhishek Reddy’s transfer to Patna HC, but the collegium has retained his name in the list.

Of the seven transferred judges, three are from Telangana and two from AP.
