The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will take its first step towards ming a national party on Wednesday, 21 years after it was launched to demand a separate state.
TRS supremo and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will launch Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) at exactly 1.19 pm after party state executive members and other elected representatives pass a&nbsp;resolution to merge TRS in the new party. The resolution would be sent to the Election Commission either on Thursday or Friday.
JD (S) leader and former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy along with 20 of his MLAs will attend the launch event at the TRS headquarters. HDK arrived in Hyderabad on a private jet late on Tuesday evening and was received by TRS working president KT Rama Rao.

Select farmer union leaders from Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana and Dalit leaders from other states, including Tamil Nadu, were also invited for the event. Sources said KCR invited Samajawadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav, but he may not attend the launch due to the ill health of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Invites were also sent to RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, JMM leader and Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, but there was no confirmation on their presence till Tuesday night.
TRS sources said more leaders would attend the public meeting being planned in December after the Election Commission formally approves the party's name.
Seen by many as a major gamble, KCR had indicated his ambition to play a key role in national politics in 2019 and revealed his plans to launch a national party after the TRS plenary in April.
BRS, when it does finally come into existence, will be the first regional party from the two Telugu states to be converted into a national party. Former chief ministers of united Andhra Pradesh, NT Rama Rao and N Chandrababu Naidu, played a key role in Delhi while never changing Telugu Desam Party's character as a regional player.
After extending support to the NDA government on various occasions in the past, including presidential elections, demonetisation and implementing GST, KCR has been attacking BJP, especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on various issues for the past two years. His offensive intensified last September when the Centre refused to procure paddy from the state.
In the meantime, the BJP took on a more aggressive posture in Telangana after winning a couple of by-elections and finishing second in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections in 2020.
KCR tried to stitch together a front with non-Congress and non-BJP parties before 2019 Lok Sabha elections and met several regional parties' leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin and other leaders.
