Boyapati Srinu&rsquo;s Balakrishna-starrer Akhanda, and Vidya Sagar Raju&rsquo;s Khudiram Bose, have been screened at the festival. Ahead of his film&rsquo;s screening, Balakrishna spoke to the press and said, &ldquo;It feels great that ours was one of the two Telugu films that were selected from a pool of 40 that were submitted for consideration. It&rsquo;s a great honour to represent the Telugu film fraternity here today.&rdquo;
Balakrishna recalled how the film released in December 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic. &ldquo;People were scared for their lives and no one even knew if the audience would come to watch the film,&rdquo; he said, adding, &ldquo;However, Boyapati and I had faith in our work. We&rsquo;ve always strived to create trends instead of following them. It was one of the first films that released in the theatres post-pandemic and was more than just a commercial success. It gave hope to the rest of the country."

Balakrishna believes the reason why the film received the kind of response it did during its theatrical run and was selected to screen at IFFI is the strong message backing it. "Yes, it's a commercial potboiler, but it also has a lot of life lessons to impart. The film made a case for saving nature apart from exploring&nbsp;dharma. I&rsquo;ve explored various genres in my career, be it with Aditya 369 or Gautamiputra Satakarni. Akhanda will remain one of the films I&rsquo;ll always be proud of doing,&rdquo; he explained.

The Veera Simha Reddy actor also remembered his late father, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) on the occasion. &ldquo;My father is the reason I am here today in more ways than one. He has and will always remain my guide. He taught me acting is more than just crying, shouting and showing off heroism. An actor should also feel responsible about the kind of films they deliver, apart from having respect for the profession. I learnt that from him,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;
