<p>The Queer Swabhimana Yatra - Hyderabad Pride 2022, an initiative by a collective of LGBTQIA+ people, saw 600 people from all walks of life come together after a three-year pandemic break on Sunday. The pride walk, which happens once a year across metropolises in India and the globe, began as a procession around 1 PM and ended with a grand gathering at Indira Park around 6 PM. The finale witnessed cultural programmes, poetry and lots of love on display.</p>
<p>Participants demanded legalising same sex marriages and reservations in education and jobs. "If being yourself is a crime, then freedom is an illusion. I walked with my mother in pride for the first time this year. She felt super happy and proud seeing queer people and everybody coming and greeting her," says Sravan Telu, a dancer from the city who identifies himself as asexual. The walk was a perfect opportunity to meet old friends and receive love from society.</p>
