Russian software disguised as American finds way into US army app

London/Washington: Thousands of smartphone apps in Apple and Google’s online stores contain computer code developed by a technology firm, Pushwoosh, that presents itself as based in US, but is actually Russian, Reuters has found.

CDC, the US’ main agency for fighting health threats, said it had been deceived into believing Pushwoosh was based in the US capital. After learning about its Russian roots, it removed Pushwoosh software from seven apps, citing security concerns.
