<p>&ldquo;During the war with China in 1962, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru-ji said bye-bye Assam. Congress forgot that the entire NE is also a part of India,&rdquo; Shah said, a reference to the order to the Indian Army to retreat from a vast swathe of the region in the face of the Chinese invaders. Shah pointed out that during its years in government Congress remained a silent spectator to the disintegration of the northeast due to the actions of a large number of armed groups hostile to India.</p>

<p>He said that the BJP government, in contrast, has worked for the integration of the NE with the rest of the country. &ldquo;Whenever the history of the Northeast is written, historians will be forced to etch the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP in golden letters.
