<p id="1">Aluri Usha Rani alias Bhanu Didi , a senior woman Maoist, involved in several violent incidents in Telangana and Chhattisgarh has surrendered before the police on Saturday. She carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh.</p>
<p id="2">Usha Rani (53), a divisional committee member of the north sub-zonal bureau of the Dandakaranya special zonal committee of CPI (Maoist), surrendered in the presence of director general of police M. Mahender Reddy.</p>
<p>She turned herself in owing to health reasons, police said.</p>

<p>According to the police, she participated in a total of 14 offences during her underground life in both the states. These include five attacks on security forces, three exchanges of fire with the police, three blasting of buildings, one abduction and two assault cases.</p>

<p>Addressing a press conference, the DGP said the Maoist party was on the wane across the country and appealed to the Maoist cadre to join the mainstream and benefit from the rehabilitation process of Telangana state, which includes immediate relief with suitable amount and other support measures.</p>

This only deepened the leadership vacuum,&rdquo; he said.</p>
<p>According to him, senior leader Muppala Lakshmana Rao alias Ganapathi can&rsquo;t walk and is incoherent. &ldquo;Another CC member Katakam Sudarshan alias Anand&rsquo;s health is critical. CC member Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy alias Kosa is also not doing well,&rdquo; he said. He said 11 CC members belong to Telangana. &ldquo;We appeal to them to surrender. The Telangana state committee of the party now is operating out of Chhattisgarh. We are supporting the anti-Maoist operations of neighbouring states and if Maoists try to sneak into Telangana, we will respond,&rdquo; the DGP warned.</p>

<p>Usha Rani, who was underground for 31 years, said she sought the party leadership&rsquo;s permission to surrender in 2019 owing to ill-health. She was given permission in August. &ldquo;She used to deliver lectures to Maoist cadre on world political situation and history of Maoist party. She also officiated as editor of Maoist quarterly magazine &lsquo;Bhumkal Sandesh&rsquo;. She told us that the present cadre are not able to understand Marxist, Leninist and Maoist ideology,&rdquo; DGP said. She will be provided rehabilitation. Reddy gave ̀₹50,000 for expenses.</p>
