It’s an epidemic that could be called Divoc, which is Covid spelt backwards, a reaction to the captivity of 30 months of viral lockdown.

Like Shelley’s Prometheus, the tourist has been unbound, resulting in a pandemic of leisure travel afflicting destinations across the globe.

And, in Rome, Bunny and I are in the midst of it. The Eternal City has been transformed into an Infernal City of raucous, jostling throngs who negotiate the narrow, cobbled street of Centro Storico, the Historic Centre, like human toothpaste squeezed out of a tube.
