Hyderabad: No money, no vote. That was the clear message that the 2,500-odd voters of Anthampet in Munugode sent out to contesting candidates of Thursday's by-polls. While as the rest of the constituency streamed on to the streets in large numbers, residents here sat in protest on the cement roads of their village, refusing to budge unless the netas who had 'cheated' them with claims, coughed up the moolah.
They even got into a scuffle with a TRS sarpanch, forcing the police to intervene to disperse the crowd.
"We were promised *3,000 by TRS and 4,000 by BJP. Though Congress did not mention how much they would pay, we found out that they selectively distributed 500. Nothing came our way," said a flustered woman, upset as her son had travelled all the way from Mumbai, in hope of his vote adding to the family coffer.

"But the parties have let us down. We will not waste our vote on them," she added. Buy end of day, TOI found out that only 300 voters from the village turned up at booths.
"There would have been no problem if parties did not speak about money at all. But as things stand now, they have deceived us. They promised us money and then turned their backs on us. Majority of the people here are poor and need financial aid," said S Anasuya, one among the aggrieved lot.
G Ushan, a farmer, along with his six family members also stayed away from the booths as none of them had seen a paisa come their way.
"What's also unfair is that party workers were bias and distributed cash only among some of their people," Ushan added. Apart from Anthampet, a similar situation unfolded at Bangarigadda of Chandur where villagers refused to vote unless money was delivered at their doorstep.
