<p id="1"><strong>Nashik/Nagpur: </strong>A day after Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai said that his government is actively considering the resolution of the Jath taluka villages to merge with Karnataka as the Maharashtra government had &ldquo;failed&rdquo; to address the water and irrigation problems there, his Maharashtra counterpart Eknath Shinde on Wednesday said that no village of Maharashtra will be allowed to merge with any other state.</p>
<p id="2">&ldquo;There is no question of any village of Maharashtra getting merged with any other state. Our government will take all measures to ensure that no problems are caused to the villages in the Jath taluka of Sangli,&rdquo; Shinde told reporters in Shirdi where he was with his wife to offer prayers and seek Saibaba&rsquo;s blessings. Ahmednagar guardian minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil and school education minister Deepak Kesarkar were also accompanying Shinde.</p>
<p>&ldquo;The resolution by those villages was adopted way back in 2012 when they faced water problems. However, since then, schemes have been planned in the Jath taluka villages, and some of them have already been implemented. Others will be implemented in due course of time. It is our responsibility to ensure that all these schemes are implemented in a proper manner in the villages. Moreover, we have announced several welfare schemes for Marathi-speaking people residing in the Maharashtra-Karnataka border areas,&rdquo; added Shinde.</p>

<p id="2">In response to a question, he said the Maharashtra-Karnataka border dispute is being heard in the Supreme Court. &ldquo;Maharashtra wants to resolve the problem amicably with Karnataka. The governors of both these states recently had a meeting on the issue. Even the Centre is playing a constructive role to resolve the dispute with consensus,&rdquo; Shinde said.</p>
<p id="3">Echoing similar sentiment, Shinde&rsquo;s deputy Devendra Fadnavis asserted that not even a single village from Maharashtra will be merged with any other state, instead they will take the legal route to include in the state Marathispeaking areas now in Karnataka.</p>

<p id="2">&ldquo;It is a legal battle between two states and Maharashtra government will fight it out in the Supreme Court to include Marathi-speaking areas like Belgaum (now Belagavi), Karwar and Nipani in our state,&rdquo; Fadnavis told reporters in Nagpur on Wednesday.</p>
<p id="3">&ldquo;When I was CM, we had talks with Karnataka officials, wherein it was decided that we can supply water to border villages wherever we want and they can replicate the same thing. Our minister Girish Mahajan had also decided to include Jath villages,&rdquo; Fadnavis said.</p>
