3 buildings near site of Borivli crash given 2 days by BMC for demolition

A day after the four-storey Gitanjali building crashed in Sai Baba Nagar, Borivli, the BMC said on Saturday that it will wait for two days for the society and developer to begin the demolition of the three other dilapidated buildings that stand beside the fallen structure. If demolition does not begin, the BMC will start razing the structures after 11 am on Monday.

Municipal officials said the three structures would take about a week to be brought down.

They said that they had informed the Bombay high court about the collapse of the empty Gitanjali building and the high court had asked all the residents from the three dilapidated buildings to move out in 24 hours. The officials said that following due process the matter was brought to the notice of the court, which had granted a stay on the razing of the building.
