The action council is a collective comprising residents of Vizhinjam and its adjoining areas. It is for the first time that CPM and BJP politicians have come together on a public platform against the agitation by fisherfolk, though they have separately denounced it.</p>
<p>&ldquo;The protesters are being controlled by a group which has ulterior motives. They have vested interests and that is why they are continuing with the stir even after the government has agreed to their demands,&rdquo; Nagappan told the gathering. &ldquo;CPM will provide all support to the people&rsquo;s collective.&rdquo;</p>

<p id="2">&ldquo;The agitation is an attempt to sabotage plans for a port in Vizhinjam. BJP will provide all support to the port project,&rdquo; said Rajesh.</p>
<p id="3">The action council has launched a campaign against the church-led stir at Vizhinjam, which completed 100 days recently. The LDF government has agreed to consider some demands but declined to halt construction work. The Kerala HC had also directed that any protest should not affect construction work.</p>
