New Delhi: Congress has called a meeting of its apex body, Congress Working Committee, on August 28 to decide on the schedule for the election to the post of party president, amid growing buzz around the name of Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot in the wake of Rahul Gandhi’s reluctance to take up the top job.
For the third day in running, Gehlot parried queries that he was being tapped for the national role, adding that he was focused on his twin responsibilities as the CM and election strategist for Gujarat polls. He, however, conceded that the final choice was a suspense, adding that he was a “disciplined soldier” of the party and would do as directed by the leadership.
