Foreign minister S Jaishankar slammed Europe again on Friday for thinking "Europe's problems are world's problems" as he reiterated that India is not sitting on the fence on the Ukraine issue and rejected suggestions that New Delhi's "support" for Russia could affect the international community's support for India in its tensions with China.
Jaishankar also said Europe itself, while complaining about India's oil imports from Russia, had designed its sanctions on Russia keeping in mind its gas requirements and welfare of the people. "Is buying Russian gas not funding the war? Is it only Indian money and oil coming to India that funds it, but not the gas coming to Europe? Let's be a little even-handed out here," he said.
