Mumbai: It could well have been a midsea scene from a thriller. A slightly tipsy man staggered onto a fishing boat docked off Vasai and zipped off on a solo joyride in the dead of night. He steered the vessel southwest of Mumbai, towards the Konkan, in the early hours of Wednesday.
Over 36 hours later, the boat was found along Shrivardhan coast in Raigad after it ran out of fuel, and the man out of his stupor. He was arrested for ‘stealing’ the boat and was being brought to Vasai on Friday evening.
It now turns out that the man who motored the boat some 220km in the Arabian Sea was a labourer hired by the boat owner recently.
