E-eye to watch entry-exits of 700 UP villages

With an aim to curb crime in Meerut's rural belt, the district panchayat has come up with a security plan to put every village in the district under 24x7 electronic surveillance through CCTV cameras at entry and exit points.
The project, the brainchild of 34-year-old district panchayat chairman Gaurav Chaudhary, is pegged to be a first-of-its-kind initiative where Meerut is going to be the only district in UP where all its villages will have such a facility.
