Srinagar: J&K lieutenant-governor Manoj Sinha ordered on Wednesday the shifting by June 6 of all migrant employees in the UT to their respective district headquarters for safety in the wake of targeted terror attacks on non-Muslims posted in remoter areas, reports Saleem Pandit.
Union home minister Amit Shah has scheduled a meeting with Sinha in Delhi on Friday to discuss the present situation after a spurt in targeted killings.
A top official said approximately 4,500 migrant employees are posted in district or municipal town areas. "In the last week, around 500 employees, as per their request, were transferred to locations preferred by them, including around 100 couples," the official said.
