In the neighbouring Thane district, Modak Sagar lake in Shahapur taluka started overflowing on Wednesday afternoon. Of the seven lakes supplying water to Mumbai, it is the first to cross the overflow mark this monsoon. Last year, the lake, which supplies 440 million litres of water to the city daily, had begun to overflow on July 22. The full supply level of Modak Sagar lake is 163.15m.
