<p><strong>Thiruvananthapuram:&nbsp;</strong>Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Sunday hinted that he will send the ordinance, which strips his powers as the chancellor of all state universities, to the President of the country. &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t want to judge the ordinance if the state government is targeting me. Hence, I will refer it (to the President),&rdquo; said the governor while addressing reporters in New Delhi.</p>

<p id="2">When asked whether he will sign the ordinance, the governor said: &ldquo;A decision will be made only after scrutinizing it. Am yet to receive the ordinance personally. If I am the target, then I don&rsquo;t want to be the judge of it.&rdquo; The governor was reacting for the first time after the government sent the said ordinance for his accord on Saturday.</p>
<p id="3">However, he said he came to know about his removal from the chancellor&rsquo;s post at Kalamandalam deemed university only through media reports.</p>
<p id="4">&ldquo;It is up to the government to take such decisions. The government has the freedom to take the decision and I will not comment whether it is le gal or not,&rdquo; he said.</p>
<p>The governor had left the state capital on Saturday night and hence he hadn&rsquo;t seen the ordinance though Raj Bhavan had received it. Khan is expected to return to Raj Bhavan only on November 20.</p>

<p id="3">There are reports that the state government is also thinking about bringing the same ordinance as a bill in the ensuing assembly session. The state cabinet meeting on Wednesday is likely to finalise the date to convene the next state assembly session. Now the main issue is that if the governor refers the ordinance to the President, can the state government table it as a bill in the House. It is learnt that the government has sought legal opinion for this scenario.</p>
