National Human Rights Commission chief Justice Arun Mishra on Wednesday stressed on the need for gender equality and equal rights for all, especially women, adding that none can be discriminated against or deprived of civil liberties and rights in the name of religious or customary practices. In this context, he said it is desirable for India to move towards implementation of the Uniform Civil Code, as envisaged in Article 44 of the Constitution of India.
