New Delhi: Lieutenant governor VK Saxena has recommended to the Union home ministry that non-consensual sex with wife aged between 15 and 18 years be treated as rape and made punishable under the Indian Penal Code.
The proposal was in response to the Centre earlier seeking inputs from all states on the sensitive issue of dealing with Exception 2 in IPC Section 375 that protects husbands from the charge of marital rape.
