The Supreme Court on Thursday approved a fresh timeline from the Justice (retired) LN Rao committee for the election which includes the ratification of the new constitution in the IOA's general body meeting on November 10.
Former secretary general of the Election Commission of India Umesh Sinha has been recommended as the returning officer for the elections. The amended constitution aims to bring in professionalism in its working at all levels and the post of secretary general/CEO is now reserved for an experienced management professional. This key post will be ex-officio with no voting rights. The post of life president has been abolished.
