9 Indians killed in Maldives garage blaze

Nine Indians and a Bangladeshi national were killed in a major fire in a garage below cramped living quarters that foreign house workers in Male, the Maldivian capital, early on Thursday. MEA spokesperson A Bagchi said local authorities are engaged in identifying the bodies, all of which are charred. The quarters are being scanned for any further casualties.

Male: Nine Indians were among 10 people who died early on Thursday when a major fire broke out in the garage below a cramped living quarters that housed foreign workers here in the Maldivian capital, authorities said. The fire broke out in the M Nirufehi area near the Maaveyo Mosque around 12:30 am.
