The daily war of words between BJP and AAP over the anti-encroachment drive launched by the municipal corporations turned into a full-fledged confrontation with both parties making allegations and counter-allegations against each other on Friday.
While chief minister Arvind Kejriwal called a meeting of his party MLAs on Saturday to discuss the ground situation and devise a strategy to deal with the it, AAP's MCD in-charge Durgesh Pathak threatened to demolish the alleged encroachment made by Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta at his Patel Nagar residence on Saturday, evoking a sharp reaction from the saffron party functionaries.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, meanwhile, wrote to Union home minister Amit Shah against "unjustified bulldozer politics" of the BJP-led municipal corporations seeking "immediate intervention" from the Centre. He demanded protection for Delhiites against the "havoc" caused by the corporations and said his party workers would go to jail, but won't let "BJP's terror prevail".
Delhi BJP claimed that AAP was rattled by MCD's action against encroachment made by "Rohingyas and Bangladeshis”, who were illegal immigrants patronised by the ruling dispensations in Indian states.
While questioning the "capacity" in which Pathak would carry out the demolition at Gupta's residence, BJP urged north corporation to survey the alleged encroachment done by AAP on the footpath outside its party office.
