Amid demands from industry players, the government may sell wheat from its surplus stock in small tranches across different states to increase its availability and check retail atta prices.

During their meetings with government officials, flour millers have claimed that they have stocks for one-two months and may not be able to meet the demand. At the same time, some large traders are seen to be sitting on a pile of wheat, which they are not releasing, hoping to encash on the higher price in the coming months.
