PG admissions via CUET at DU from next yr

The Academic Council (AC) of Delhi University on Tuesday cleared holding of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admissions to its postgraduate programmes from the next year. A committee will be set up to work on admission modalities.

Many AC members objected to DU’s notification to change the teacher-student ratio for lectures, tutorials and lab classes. The matter was placed only as a reporting item, prompting teachers to point out that such an important issue should have been discussed first. According to the notification, 60 students should there for a lecture, 30 students for a tutorial and 25 for a lab session. Earlier, the tutorial class size was 10-12 students and a practical class had around 15 students.

The council passed the syllabus for the second semester of the four-year undergraduate programme, which was already discussed in the standing committee. It was cleared without any dissent.
