New Delhi: Delhi University sprung back to life on Wednesday as enthusiastic first-year students arrived on campus. They were greeted by a riot of colours in the form of decorated gates, lawns, funky corners to capture memories and rangolis made of flower petals as colleges made elaborate arrangements to ensure a warm welcome.
Many students who had faced academic hurdles during the pandemic — be it with respect to board exams or the new mode of admission — seemed relieved to finally be on campus after being confined at home and eager to explore the much-awaited college life.
Arshiya Chaudhury, an economics (H) student at Shri Ram College of Commerce, said, “It feels great to step out after almost five months. We were at home since our board exams even when our friends had started attending other universities. It truly is an amazing feeling to be here. My mother is an SRCC alumni and I have wanted to be in this college for a long time.”
