New Delhi: The AAP legislator from Model Town, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi, was questioned for over nine hours by a special Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) team in relation to the alleged cash-for-ticket scam. The ACB will also question Rajesh Gupta, the party MLA from Wazirpur who is named in the FIR as well. It has been alleged that both had taken bribe from the complainant.
Tripathi reached the ACB headquarters around 10.45am and was confronted with alleged evidences like videos and phone call records regarding the alleged exchange and return of the bribe money.
He was quizzed on the allegation that &ldquo;900 grams of milk&rdquo; was the code word for delivering Rs 90 lakh.
Denying the charges, Tripathi said he had no role in the&nbsp;matter. The MLA alleged that the complainant&rsquo;s credentials were disputed and he had a lot of cases against him. Tripathi also claimed that he was being blackmailed. ACB chief Madhur Verma said Tripathi&rsquo;s answers were being studied and the next course would be decided by the investigating officer on their merit.
Meanwhile, a separate ACB team also questioned the three arrested men, including Tripathi&rsquo;s purported relative, Om Singh, and personal assistant Shiv Shankar Pandey, who were remanded in two days&rsquo; police custody on Wednesday.
On November 14, the complainant, Gopal Khari, approached the ACB with a complaint accusing Tripathi of demanding a bribe of Rs 90 lakh in lieu of giving a ticket to his wife, Shobha Khari, for ward number 69 in Kamla Nagar.
The victim then allegedly paid Rs 35 lakh to Tripathi and Rs 20 lakh to Wazirpur MLA Gupta as advance.
On November 12, Khari did not find his wife&rsquo;s name in the list of contesting councillors released by AAP and saw that the ticket for the ward had been given to someone else.
Thereafter, Singh allegedly contacted the complainant and assured him that the ticket would be given to him in the next election.
He also allegedly offered to return the bribe amount to Khari. The victim then filed the complaint and submitted audio and video recordings of his alleged dealings.
On the intervening night of November 15 and 16, an ACB team laid a trap and arrested the three men in the presence of independent witnesses when they allegedly came to return Rs 33 lakh of the bribe money.
