01 Vittoria Universal Tubeless Tyre Sealant 500ml
£19.99
3.5/5
AVAILABLE IN FIVE SIZES FROM 80ml to 1L, the Universal is ammonia and scent-free. It's also latex free so won't result in an allergic reaction. Vittoria claim it will seal holes up to 5mm long and not 'ball' or congeal in the tyre, while it's targeted for use on road, gravel and mountain bike tyres. At 80psi (5.5 bar) the sealant performed well, sealing a thin knife incision 8mm-long having already sealed two separate attacks with a large, sharpened screwdriver. An interesting specification is that the Universal sealant won't freeze above -15°C. I wasn't about to put that to the test, but it's good to know.
02 Juice Lubes Tyre Juice 500ml
£19.99
3.5/5
JUICE LUBES PROVIDE THREE different size containers of their Tyre Juice depending on your needs, including a 5L keg for £100. Suggested volumes for application are quoted for a range of wheel sizes and applications so, regardless of your preferred discipline, you're covered. Juice Lubes claim their Tyre Juice doesn't dry out or 'ball', is ammonia free and has synthetic latex fibres to block larger intrusions. Although the Tyre Juice sealed an impressive 26 intrusions from a pin and four from a 3mm diameter pick, it didn't completely seal the second of two strikes with a sharpened screwdriver (it did seal knife slits up to the claimed 7mm, however).

Air Apparent - Pollution hasn't gone away. It's still there in every lungful, even if we can't see it in the air or on the news. But there are reasons to breathe easier, thanks to pioneering projects using cycling 'citizen scientists'. Rob Ainsley took part in one...
The toxic effects of pollution have been known about for years. 'Just two things of which you must beware: Don't drink the water and don't breathe the air!' sang 1960s satirist Tom Lehrer.Over recent decades, though, pollution has dropped down our list of things to worry about, thanks to ominously capitalised concerns such as Climate Change, AI, Global Conflict, Species Collapse, etc. That doesn't, unfortunately, mean the problem has expired. Air quality often exceeds safe limits, with far-reaching and crippling effects on our health.
