The rigours of calling the Tour finale

I nearly passed out in commentary on the stage into Bordeaux.

This isn't a metaphor, or an allegorical expression of what it felt like to call that sprint... it's actually what happened. I literally nearly passed out.

There's a physicality to what I and my colleagues on other channels do during the three weeks of the Tour de France that shouldn't be underestimated. There is an undeniable process in going through the gears of a slowly building stage such as we witnessed on stage seven, finishing along the banks of the mighty Garonne.
