• The golf Par 71, 6,133 yards
The town’s original club closed in 1950 with golf not returning until 1976 at Threlkeld, a few miles to the east. The setting is spectacular, with majestic Blencathra rising steeply the other side of the busy A66. You stare directly at this stirring backdrop on the long downhill par-3 2nd, before turning back via a shorter par 3 whose green is flanked by one of many free-flowing becks.
