Can Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang solve the scoring woes of Chelsea after his arrival at Stamford Bridge?

READY TO FIRE

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang P will attempt to succeed where many others have failed at Chelsea while wearing the 'cursed' number nine shirt having returned to the Premier League.

Chelsea have been yearning for a new striker after Romelu Lukaku's poor spell at the west London club last season and Timo Werner's inconsistency in front of goal that led to his move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

After Lukaku and Werner's departures in the off-season, Aubameyang was seen as their replacement upfront for the Blues.

Aubameyang returned to the Premier League for a second spell after the Blues sealed a deal to sign the Gabon international from Spanish behemoths Barcelona for a fee of €12 million.

The 33-year-old committed his future to Chelsea after he put pen to paper on a two-year contract at Stamford Bridge in a deal which saw Marcos Alonso move in the other direction in part exchange.

This brought an end to his short stint at Barcelona after joining the club during the January transfer window last season when he signed for the Catalans on a free from Arsenal.
