No matter how difficult the challenge is and how superior your opponent's side is, you can move the mountains with sheer motivation. The Indian women's hockey team proved this by winning the FIH Nations Cup title recently. This title helped the Indian team to qualify for the FIH Pro League 2023-24. After Australia and New Zealand refrained from participating in the FIH women’s Hockey Pro League 2021-22 season due to the Covid-19 pandemic, India and Spain took part in the tournament.

The women’s team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and in the final, they beat the host Spanish team in the keenly contested contest. Under the leadership of Savita Puniya the goalkeeper, the Indian team defeated strong teams like South Africa, Japan and Chile in the league matches. In the semifinals, they edged past top-contender Ireland by 2-1 in the penalty shootout. In this match, the Indian team was trailing behind in the initial stage but they came back strongly to level the match 1-1.
