But the 52-year-old replaced Mike Williamson at MK Dons a week-and-a-half ago, robbing the Red Devils of the man who crafted their signature free-flowing philosophy Elliot, though, is no stranger to following in daunting footsteps. Twelve months ago, the former Newcastle goalkeeper reluctantly took charge at Gateshead after Williamson, who had or chestrated promotion from National League North and implemented an attractive possession-centric style, was lured to Stadium MK.
The Tynesiders eventually reached the play-off plac es, and Elliot who left Gateshead fifth in the National League believes that experience will prove beneficial now.
