The 26-year-old Doncaster Rovers winger has set personal twin targets this campaign – to secure a place in the PFA Team of the Year and to accumulate a combined tally of 30 goals and assists.
He is making good progress on both fronts.
Molyneux has won this season’s first Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month award after topping the division’s goal charts with four in August.
The Bishop Auckland-born attacker also netted at Salford in the Carabao Cup and has laid on two goals for teammates during a scintillating start to 2024-25.
His contributions helped lift Rovers to the top of the table and, although the team suffered a 2-0 hiccup at Harrogate on Thursday night, Molyneux admits that finishing at the summit is another goal this term as the South Yorkshire side look to extinguish the pain of their play-off semi- final defeat to Crewe last season.
A surprise 2-0 second leg loss on home turf against the Railwaymen and subsequent penalty shoot-out misery cost the ex-Hartlepool forward a first-ever career Wembley outing.
