The left-back rifled home to open the scoring in the 85th minute, but it was all-square four minutes left when Chairboys sub-Dale Taylor fired a superb 20-yard volley into the corner of the net with his first touch.
An incredible finale reached a climax as Burrows’ booming cross from out on the wing sailed over keeper Franco Ravizzoli for the winner in the first minute of stoppage time.
It sent 23,000 Posh fans delirious with joy and made it two triumphs in the competition for the club.
Boss Ferguson, who incidentally was also manager during the 2014 success, was gushing with admiration for man-of-the-match Burrows after the final whistle last Sunday.
