GIANTKILLING boss Mark Kennedy says he was delighted, but not surprised, to see his Lincoln City side stun Premier League Sheffield United and continue their glory run in the Carabao Cup.

The League One Imps frustrated the Blades to force a hard-fought goalless draw at Bramall Lane before goalkeeper Lukas Jensen saved penalties from Louis Marsh and Benie Traore to seal a 3-2 shootout victory in front of around 3,000 ecstatic travelling fans.

“I’m really, really pleased for the fans to get their rewards,” said Kennedy, whose side now host another Premier League side in West Ham United in the third round.

“Our 3,000 away fans were electric and made it feel like a home match.

“To come away from home, be so good out of possession and keep a clean sheet against a Premier League side is not easy.

“I thought we deserved it, however, but I say that respectfully because I thought we earned the right to go to penalties.

“It’s all well and good standing on the touchline and having a gameplan, but these lads have the ability to be coachable and execute that.
