PARTY POPPER LAVERY'S GOT THE MOVES

Lavery led the Poppies to,arguably, their greatest ever FA Cup moment when they knocked out higher-profile neighbours Northampton Town in their own back yard.

It earned the Southern Premier Central high-flyers another big TV date with Doncaster Rovers in the second round on Sunday December 1, but it’s not just his tactics that Lavery has been brushing up on – he’s also planning a new dance routine!

Victory over the Cobblers sparked a mass knees-up in the Sixfields away dressing room afterwards with Lavery taking centre stage – his rendition of Queen’s Another One Bites The Dust in particular viewed by millions online.

“I like to have a bit of a sing and a dance when we get a good result,” the 47-year-old groover told The NLP. “It’s something I like to do on a big occasion, and Another One Bites The Dust has caught on a bit recently. We’re on a nine-game unbeaten run in the league so thankfully we’ve been doing it a fair bit.

“I’ve got some more moves too, but I had to change a few things because I know it was being recorded.”

If there was ever a reason for Lavery to bring out his inner Freddie Mercury, then this was it. Nile Ranger’s extra-time winner stunned the League One Cobblers and a 7,000+ crowd, sending the travelling Poppies into dreamland.

“We’re four leagues below them, so to go and beat them on their home ground is what FA Cup dreams are made of.

Sleeping giant

internet sensation as well. Lavery led the Poppies to, arguably, their greatest ever FA Cup moment when they knocked out higher-profile neighbours Northampton Town in their own back yard.
