Midfield pair Jeremy Sivi and Lewis Simper netted within four first-half minutes to put the U’s in control and they deservedly saw out victory despite Tom Leahy pulling one back for the Cards.

It ended a five-game winless run and took Morison’s men, with an average age of just 23.9, to within a point of the play-off spots.

“We have done a lot of work on the type of players we want. We want a progressive group that are athletic and have quality,” Morison said.

“We all want to grow together and that’s what we are doing. There are going to be ups and downs, there are going to be times where we flatten a bit but we are a work in progress.
