With a tally of 101 points, the club threatened – but ultimately fell just short of – Reading’s 2005-06 English Football League record haul of 106 points, but are fully deserving of their Championship title. Neil Warnock, the irrepressible manager of Huddersfield Town and a league champion himself in 2011, has described them as one of the best second-tier sides of the modern era.
