The Universal appeal and use case scenario of the Type-C port is a welcoming change in the iPhone series but people may not realise how monumental it is. The inclusion of the universal port has created a new era for the iPhone series, basically rendering all the previous devices outdated. So, is this new era of the iPhone really something you would want to shell out money for? Let's find out in the review below
DESIGN
In case you are not aware, the Pro-level iPhones no longer come in their fancy stainless steel frame. Now, they feature a titanium back frame which is arguably not tougher than steel but surely is lighter. To be precise, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 19 grams lighter than the previous Pro Max model weighing 221 grams. When you actually start using the device, you'll realize how light it is. Apple has been ambiguous about what protects the device calling it "tough glass-based materials" and the classic ceramic shield protection is also present here. However, I am sure we all have seen the viral video of this device's durability test where it was easily broken by just applying a little pressure. We certainly did not want to take that risk with our device!
What's new in the design arena is also an Action Button which bids farewell to the silence switch. By default, the Action Button simply enables and disables silent mode but that's not the only purpose it is there for. Users can turn on focus mode, launch the camera, turn on the flashlight, start a voice memo or run a Siri shortcut. It can also be calibrated to launch any of your most-used apps which makes your life a little easier. Sidenote, I would appreciate if Apple would've also included the Action Button in the standard iPhone 15 variants.
