HOW TO BUILD A website in a weekend

A GREAT DEAL has changed in the 30 or so years since the creation of HTML and the World Wide Web brought the power of the internet into people's lives. One aspect that hasn't changed is that websites are still the focus of most of our online activity. You can use an app or stream movies directly your TV, but if you want to book a vacation, research potential destinations, or renew your passport, chances are you go to a website.

And if you want to promote a new business, a band, or just share photos of your trip of a lifetime with the world, there's no better way to do it. Thankfully, building a website is much easier than it was even a decade ago. You can have an all-singing, all-dancing, responsive site with links to social media and e-commerce features fully functional in a very short space of time.

There are a few things to think about before you jump in, and we'll walk you through all of those over the next few pages. One of those things is which tool to use. We've chosen WordPress (https://wordpress.com); you can get started for free and be up and running and adding content in just a few hours.
