<p><strong>Size zero still seems to be the most desirable aspect of design, or at least Lenovo&rsquo;s branding suggests so. The Legion 5i is not as bulky as some of the other gaming laptops in&nbsp;the market but it is certainly not the slimmest, considering that it is a mid-level gaming laptop.</strong></p>
<p>Lenovo has designed the Legion Slim 5i to be a practical and portable gaming laptop. The device has an aluminium top cover, while the base section uses a combination of polycarbonate and ABS plastic, making it lightweight for a 16-inch gaming laptop. The base includes a wide grille directly below the fans and air inlets are at the sides. The device is 21.9 mm thick and weighs about 2.54 kg. The laptop includes a full complement of ports, most of which are accommodated at the rear with clear markings on top of the spine along with the charge indicator. This lets you plug in accessories without having to turn the device. The ports include two USB 3.2 Type-A Gen 2 ports, one of which is always on, one HDMI 2.1 port, an ethernet port, and the power connector. A 4-in-1 card reader and the camera privacy shutter switch are at the right side, while a 3.5mm headphone jack and two USB 3.2 Type-C Gen 2 ports adorn the left side, one of which supports 140W power delivery and DisplayPort 1.4.</p>
<p>We received the Legion Slim 5i with the top-spec Intel Core i7-13700H processor, but with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU (the laptop comes with up to RTX 4070). The Slim 5i includes two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots that can accept up to 32GB of total RAM, and our review unit was populated with two 8GB RAM modules. The device offers two M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD slots accepting up to 1TB memory. The Legion Slim 5i performed extremely well, and topped TimeSpy benchmarks. Of course, we used the device with Legion&rsquo;s default overclocking options during the tests since top performance is what gamers look for. The device uses a 16-inch WQXGA Lenovo PureSight IPS display that offers up to 240Hz variable refresh rate. This anti-glare screen covers 100 percent sRGB colour gamut, and we found the actual coverage as 99 percent sRGB by volume. It supports Nvidia G-SYNC. The display comes factory calibrated.</p>
<p>Lenovo&rsquo;s TrueStrike gaming keyboard offers a full-sized number pad and a large trackpad. The keyboard offers four-zone RGB backlighting, which can be customised via the Lenovo Vantage app. The keyboard&nbsp;offers optimum key travel with great feedback. The keys are widely spaced so that your gaming keys are easily accessible. The laptop comes with a Full HD (1080p) webcam, which is placed within a notch at the top of the display. Lenovo provides an electronic privacy shutter for the camera, which can be activated with a sliding switch on the side. The laptop uses a pair of 2W speakers for stereo sound. The device comes with Nahimic 3D Audio for Gamers. The Nahimic app allows you to customise the sound profile including an equaliser. We found the sound unimpressive, especially during gaming sessions.</p>

<p>The Legion Slim 5i is powered by an 80 Watt-hour battery, and ships with a slim 170W charging adapter. It features Rapid Charge Pro technology to top up 50 percent battery charge in 30 minutes. We found the battery life to be average, but who starts a gaming session without the device plugged in? We did not find any heating of alarming levels, and the keypad area&nbsp;stayed cool all the while.</p>
