Bridging the gap between Sim and reality

What Hi-Fi?: The move from lamps to lasers is going to be a tough transition. What aspect of the architecture did you have to modify the most to accommodate this new norm?

Today there are 3 very different light source systems for home cinema projectors: lamps, hybrid laser phosphors, and pure RGB laser systems.

To adapt the projectors to the various illumination systems we had to change one of the important parts of a projector: the optical components that collect the light from the light source and provide it to the DLP light processing technology, in our case DLP technology in 1996.

On top of this also the projector power supply is very different according to the light source technology.

SIM2 offers projector models featuring each of these light source technologies according to the performances required and the theatre specifications.

Do you feel that for ultimate performance, UHP lamps are better suited for the home cinema environment than lasers?

The flagship Sim2 projector models have to provide the best cinema image, whatever it takes: the technology is chosen with only one goal - to maximize the image quality. The Sim2 top-of-the-line, NERO4S line is powered by a lamp system. Someone may think this is an old technology but indeed it remains the best technology for a home cinema projector, capable to properly combining high brightness (up to 6000 lm) with perfect colours, high contrast and perfect HDR processing.
