Reflections from a stand-up guy
It started with a pimple. A moment of great excitement for Megan, but two weeks after she’d had her popping fun, the red lump on my nose was still there. Megan was concerned, Shari, who does my make-up, was concerned, I was concerned.
So I did what every staunch New Zealand male should do – I went straight to the skin specialist. Sure, I already had a booking for a check-up, but let’s pretend I took action.
After giving me the regular once over and zapping parts of me with liquid nitrogen, he honed in on the nose, “I’ll take a biopsy.”
“Wait, what? I only came in for some mild burning, isn’t that kinda ‘scalpely?’” I’d barely finished the thought when he said, “I’m going to inject some anaesthetic. This might hurt a bit.”
