Brave Kate's comeback - 'TODAY IS A GOOD DAY'

She has what she describes as “good days and bad days”. The Princess of Wales’ beaming smile when she made her first public appearance in six months at Trooping the Colour suggested she was having a good day. But only those close to her would have known if it was a bad one, so strong was her determination to put on a brave front and support her father-in-law, the King.

Kate, 42, announced just the night before that she would be attending Trooping the Colour, the annual ceremony held to celebrate the monarch’s official birthday. She hadn’t been seen at any royal engagements since Christmas Day last year, due to abdominal surgery and then a diagnosis of cancer followed by preventative chemotherapy she’s still undergoing.

The update about her health, along with the news that she’d finally be making her first appearance this year, came via a social media post in which she said she was making “good progress” but had good and bad days.

“On those bad days, you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

The princess said she was hoping to join other public engagements over the next few months, but she was “not out of the woods yet”.
